Monday 12 January 2026 - Craft Group
It was good to catch up with all our crafters. Just when you thought it was safe to pack away Christmas … one or two of our members were planning their Christmas projects for this year and were underway!
The most ‘left field’ idea was making miniature furniture from the wire caps found on champagne and prosecco bottles - a true recycling project. We also dived into the club’s vast jewellery making resources and had a go at learning a new craft.
Happy Crafting everyone till next time.

Friday 9 January 2026 - Art Group
Our first day back after the Christmas and New Year break. It felt good to be able to take some time out again and enjoy our ‘me’ time.
The theme this week was Snowdrops/Flowers. Definitely a bit of a challenge for me… I never know when to stop messing around with my work. I definitely needed a darker background in order to make the white snowdrops stand out more. You don't have to follow the theme but it's helpful to give us ideas. Sometimes I chicken out and ‘go rogue’, if I think it's too hard a subject.
What’s great about our Art Group is that members are at different stages of their artistic journey. I'm a beginner really and everyone is very helpful and no question is silly… today I asked what was the difference between a putty eraser and the normal pencil one. I saw a putty eraser on an art website and thought I should have one, so I bought one, no idea why, I just needed one.
Some new members joined us this week as well. It's great to see how enthusiastic, friendly and supportive everyone is.
